Meta is nothing new. jonathanmildenhall: I can’t help but wonder if Rockwell saw some of himself in that old man.  At 65 was Rockwell, like the man in the painting, traditional and stayed, admiring works of art created by the new darlings of the creative world? What did he think about the new pieces? Perhaps we may never know.  I do know, however, that Rockwell, one of the great artists of the last century, took the time to understand the relevance of art and his place in American culture.  The dedication with which he pursued his craft is evident in his work and often inspires me to perfect my own craft.
